The Forest Behind The Firewall

In the far future, every forest, jungle, wetland and wild canopy has vanished from the physical world. The last forest survives somewhere beyond the ruins, sealed inside a network and guarded by an ancient Firewall. No one knows whether it is a simulation, an uploaded ecosystem, or something that has grown beyond the intentions of its creators.

In The Forest Behind The Firewall, you play either a Refugee of the Physical World trying to cross into the Infinite Forest, or the Firewall itself, built to keep the physical out. Both sides begin with six points and battle through infiltration, defence, cyber drones, violence and critical hits as Body and Integrity are stripped away.

Optional Erosion rules let every loss become part of the fiction. The Refugee may lose their Name, Face, Voice, Memory, Flesh or Purpose, while the Firewall can lose Protocol, Authority, Surveillance, Memory, Defences or Directive.

When one side finally reaches zero, the story does not end with a simple victory or defeat. The Refugee may enter the Forest, vanish inside it, discover others who crossed before, or learn that the Firewall was only the first barrier.

Designed for solo or two-player play, The Forest Behind The Firewall is a fast cyberpunk micro RPG about extinction, identity, intrusion and the cost of reaching the last green place left in existence.
